Hey all! The Lamp’s 8th volume was illustrated by the hyper-talented Eve Greenwood (artist of the webcomic INHIBIT)! Every year our covers feature a light source, but we leave the details up to our artists. As you can see, Eve absolutely knocked the prompt out of the park!
We’re in the edits phase now, so look for Vol. 8 for June/July!
That’s right! You now have until the first week of February to submit your short stories, poetry, or other creative work to The Lamp’s eighth volume! Check out our submission guidelines if you were hesitating before due to the old due date!
The board will meet in early February to discuss the submissions, with decisions likely made around March. Until then, hang tight!
In case you missed it, Volume 7 launched a few months ago! In addition to this, prior volumes of the journal are now on sale, so this is a great time to get a sense of what the journal looks like if you’re thinking of submitting to Volume 8!
Last year the responses we got were record-setting for us, and we’re so excited to be throwing open the digital doors for another volume. Submissions are now officially OPEN for Volume 8, which aims to publish in 2018. The deadline is December 31st, so you have plenty of time to submit your stories and poetry!
Remember to read our submission guidelines, and good luck to everyone in the coming academic year!
It’s finally time to launch our seventh volume! Thank you so much to all of our contributors, readers, and the editorial team that worked so hard to make this book a reality. We’re really happy with the collection and we hope you are to!
This year, the volume will take you to apocalyptic futures, through flesh-eating horrors and cosmic cups of tea, to rest at last at the feet of old men alone at the water’s edge. You’ll travel familiar streets and strange islands, through fields of conifers and smoky bars playing the classics. We hope you enjoy the trip.
Volume 6 of The Lamp is now on salein order to celebrate the upcoming launch of our latest volume! Get it now for $1.99!
In this volume, you’ll find everything from stories of souls in bottles, folk tales come to life, and poetry so dangerous it had to be censored by some mysterious government body! From deeply intimate elegies to tributes to lipstick, this volume of short stories and poetry reflects a wealth of diverse writing talent from graduate students across the globe!
Volume 7 will be released on July 1st, but in the meantime, here’s a preview of our cover! The artist is Charlotte Grange of webcomic Sargentum fame, and she did an amazing job! Thanks so much to her and to all our contributors this year–this volume is shaping up to be one of the best yet!
It’s been a while since our last update, but only because the editorial team has been chugging along so diligently, editing authors’ work and compiling a volume to be proud of! This time around I’m so happy with the collection we’ve gathered together–from apocalyptic disasters to tranquility by the sea, this is a varied and genre-rich volume that I can’t wait to release into the world!
In preparation for the July 1st launch, we’re going to be revealing the cover for Volume 7 next Friday on June 16th! This year, we’ve commissioned artist Charlotte Grange of webcomic Sargentum fame to draw our cover, and we couldn’t be happier! You’ll have to wait until next Friday for the full thing, but in the meantime you can check out Charlotte’s work to get a preview of the style.
